And so it begins. A written and photographic record of my journey.
Mom, this is primarily for you :) And I think I’ll appreciate looking back on this in a few months too.
I am sitting in the Atlanta airport, having just exchanged some money so as to have some kind of defense when I arrive in Guatemala and then paying some money for one final hour of internet access- I’m considering the strange security I find in that green (well, now red) paper.
There’s a whisper from the back of my mind- If you don’t have any mode of communication, at least you have money.
hm. :/
This long travel journey (2 three+ hour layovers, 3 two hour flights) is actually pretty good for me. It seems to allow more proper grieving/preparation time between these two phases of life than a direct flight would have. At least that’s how I’m justifying this roundabout way of getting to GUATEMALA.
In more than one field, it appears, reality can be too strange for logic to comprehend. And where logic and evidence clash, it seems prudent to stick with evidence, for this holds the prospect of leading to a wider logic, whereas the opposite approach closes the door to discovery. In suggesting that it was evidence that forced Christians to their logic-taxing assertion that Christ was both human and divine we are of course speaking of religious experience- institutions of the soul concerning ultimate issues of existence.
